Who do we think we are, what is our true identity, do we even know? Henry Amiel said ‘Our greatest illusion is to believe that we are what we think ourselves to be’.
We identify ourselves by our name, or being the daughter/son of so and so, the mother/fater of so and so, the Company director, a soccer fan, a sports fan.
We believe media hype and buy expensive designer goods in the belief we are buying into a lifestyle, or it will make us happy to own it. We own homes and cars Iphones and computers and fit ourselves into sociably acceptable boxes.
But is this our reality, or is it an illusion, a play? There’s an ancient Indian saying that explains that we are actually spiritual beings having a human experience.
Let’s think of ourselves from that perspective, and see how things change for us.
