This Weeks Food for Thought – Conflict around us

There has probably never been a time where there has been so
much fear, conflict and violence across the world.

This conflict and fear though is not just across countries
borders and continents, the conflict starts in the home across the breakfast
plates and then carries to all parts of the home, work and life.

The day is started by the media, daily morning  newspapers and TV and Radio filled with
conflict and pain and suffering and the more they read about it the more they
want to read, and we are surrounded by fear and conflict. The news is full of
violence, there never seems to be any happy news. The newspapers chasing
conflict and war and suffering around the world.

Children’s computer games and even their TV programmes have types
of violence in, and so they digest it more and think it is perfectly normal,
they start to learn it from a very young age and it is all they know.

It seems to me and probably too many others  that most people seem to now prefer conflict to peace.

They seem to me to be addicted to  anger and aggression and what comes with it, the
adrenalin rushes and the violence so to speak.

They don’t really want conflict to end, as many say that some conflict is good to get things done and stimulate change. Change that is needed, change that is inevitable. Maybe this is because they know no other way, after being brought up from a young age on a menu of violence and aggression and conflict. They are not aware that they are killing themselves.

All conflict is in a way a symptom of attachment to a position/stance/cause/ideal
etc. Which then generates fear, fear if allowed to stay and is continually fed eventually
kills it’s host.

All solutions are based on detachment or letting go.  But that will be difficult until we can see that all possession is an illusion, that we have nothing to lose and that there are no victories in winning.

We are all born equal and naked and without possessions,
thoughts, beliefs, ideals, we all bleed, and we all die, no matter what we do,
and all we do whilst living on this planet is between our self and God only.

Turn the TV off, stop reading the Newspapers , Let go, detach
and let live. Maybe we can then start to share a more peaceful world. It all
starts within  and find the peace within then it will spread to all around.
