Today is the winter Solstice, the deepest part of winter. The longest night of the year
In the old ways it was the celebration of winter and it was a time to celebrate the birth of the baby sun, (a bit like the celebration of the birth of a baby boy in Bethlehem 2000 years ago)
the flame of hope is born and it carries us through the next few weeks of deep winter as slowly the light again increases.
It is a time to inspire hope and make plans for the future. A time of rebirth.
A time to plant the seeds of new ideas within us, nurture them to grow in the coming months.
Solstice is a time to bless and integrate the shadow self with love and care and stop being hard on the self.
Appreciate your worth and allow yourself to rest and grow.
I love this festival as much as Christmas and I really don’t see why we can’t celebrate both, even without religious content .
We can enjoy them both without hypocrisy. They both celebrate life, gratitude, kindness, good will, hope, love and going forward into the light, whichever way you look at it.
